Mud treatment technology in HDD

The mud in the horizontal direction drilling project is composed of water and clay, supplemented by additives to form a drilling fluid, which mainly protects the hole wall, carries the drilling slag out of the hole and cools the drilling tool.

During the mud construction process, because the drilling slag continuously enters the mud, the specific gravity, viscosity, and solid content of the mud has been changed, which cannot meet the requirements of the mud performance on the construction site, so it must be treated or purified.

The mud purification in the horizontal direction drilling project is mainly solid-liquid separation, that is, the drilling cuttings in the mud are separated and discharged for recycling.

The waste mud is gradually processed through the drilling fluid vibrating screen, desander ,desilter, and drilling fluid centrifuge. The processed mud is fed by a screw conveyor while adding a solidifying agent, mixing at high speed for 2-3 minutes, and then transported by a transport truck to the stacking treatment site.
